APRIL 2005 BULLETIN
We are pleased to inform you that the main conference will be held on the beautiful campus of the famous Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (Chennai). There will be nearly 60 Symposia on a variety of contemporary research topics.
The main conference will be held on: Thursday (1 Dec.), Friday (2 Dec.), Saturday (3 Dec.), Monday (5 Dec.), and Tuesday (6 Dec.), with a break on Sunday (4 Dec.).
On each of the 5 conference days, 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 December 2005, the social events consist of:
2 Coffee breaks; Lunch; Banquet; & Night of Cultural Programs.
The Cultural Programs will be by internationally acclaimed artists that will showcase the best of India's traditions in classical music, song, dance, and theater.
All events are covered by the Conference Fees, for the registered participants & registered accompanying persons.
The weather in Chennai during 1-7 December is normally very pleasant, with temperatures in the range of 75 degrees (F), and no rain. On 1,2,3,5 & 6 December there will be Optional Sight-seeing Tours every day (to the world's largest Marina Beach; the famous Temples of Chennai; and Shopping for Silks, Jewelry, Antiques, and Indian Handicrafts). On Sunday, 4 December, there will be a day-long Optional Tour to Mahabalipuram, which is a World Heritage Center of UNESCO. This group of sanctuaries, founded by the Pallava kings, was carved out of solid rock along the Coromandel Coast in the 7th and 8th centuries. It is known especially for its rathas (temples in the form of chariots), mandapas (cave sanctuaries), giant open-air reliefs such as the famous 'Descent of the Ganges', and the temple of Rivage, with thousands of sculptures to the glory of Shiva. There will be FOUR post-conference Workshops during 8-10 December 2005, with the themes: 1. Engineering Novel Materials: Computation, Theory & Experiment; 2. Bio-Nano-Info Technologies as Engines for Economic Growth; 3. Globalization of Engineering Education; and 4. Interplay of Research & Teaching in Universities of the 21st Century. Coffee Breaks and Lunches will be provided during the Workshops, and are covered by the Conference Fees for the registered participants & registered accompanying persons.
There will be a chartered flight (for paying participants) from Chennai to Jaipur on 7 December. After the Workshops in Jaipur, arrangements will be made for Optional Tours to the TAJMAHAL (AGRA), & NEW DELHI. International participants can arrange their departure flights from NEW DELHI.
